City Hall

The Rochester City Hall was built in the late 1880’s as the U.S. Government Federal Building. Architect Harvey Ellis designed the building with sandstone walls that are eighteen inches thick.

In 1975, the U.S. Government needed more space and the city had outgrown its first City Hall. A new Federal Building was built, and the city bought the old Federal Building for one dollar.
